Police versus Civilians, the New Cold War

Police versus Civilians, the New Cold War

You Know K,

When I first mentioned police brutality in 2014 as our next conversation, I thought it would be easier than it’s turned out to be.  I’ve already restarted this post three times and  I still don’t like the way it’s coming together. Here are the three different takes on my feelings about the issue…

Seems like every day there’s a new police brutality, camera phone video news story.  The police have gone nuts, we’re in a  state of siege and all you have to do to catch a police doing wrong is open your eyes. Michael Brown… 2014 has been the year of the rogue cop. Mark Furhman has replaced Officer Friendly and we are all subject to King treatment at any given moment, so keep your camera’s ready! If we believe the smoke and mirrors of the computer age media and the federal government then we may find ourselves a part of the police are the problem mob; thereby oversimplifying a network of complex issues.

No one can say that there hasn’t been a seemingly large amount of questionable police actions this year. There’s a short list of links below, featuring recent brutality cases. This issue isn’t if this sort of stuff goes on, of course it does. Then the media gets a hold of it. It becomes the new trending police video. The federal government does an inquiry and nothing happens to the police involved.  Meanwhile, citizens are left in an uproar, scared of what law enforcement may do. The police are left worrying how the public may lash out against them. The questions are “Why is there so much police bad behavior lately?” and “What can citizens do to feel safe again, around police?”

Thanks to the trend minded media and federal finger-pointing, most citizens feel that they are caught in a cold war between themselves and law enforcement. Conversely, also a byproduct of media slanting, as well as apprehension for most cops; law enforcement has been cornered  in a losing situation that doesn’t seem to have an end in sight. The resulting fortification of the blue line between officers and civilians is a combination of several intertwined issues that must be addressed separately if there is any hope for peace between us and them.

…and that’s about as far as I got. The police are indeed out of control. This year seems like there were a ridiculous amount of brutality issues.  At the same time I think that the media’s constant barrage and focus on police has exasperated the situation. I think a lot of law enforcement’s behaviors are based around the war between us fueled by the media. And then enter the federal government pretending that they are interested in putting a stop to things, I’m not convinced.

The police are human and in being human they are subject to the same temptations and possible transgressions that life has to offer. If we stopped looking for them to be perfect maybe we wouldn’t be surprised when one falls from his pedestal. Also like everyone else, they have bs to deal with at their jobs. The biggest difference is however, their bs is usually a question of life and death. Ask yourself, how would you react to daily possibility of someone putting a bullet in your head? Police have a reason to be proactive instead of reactive, like the old saying says, “It’s better to be judged by 12 than carried by 6”.

Yet I’m sure that there needs to be a better system in place for selecting, evaluating the behavior, monitoring and punishing law enforcement.  I like the idea of body cameras which has been circulating, this way we get a POV recording true to what the cop sees.  With Baltimore’s upcoming federal probe, I’d be sleeping not to revisit this issue. Let’s be clear- we appreciate the idea and the effort; well maybe not the effort, at least we appreciate the idea but until you clean your own closets why should we feel that you will clean ours. I think federal probes are more lip service that we don’t need. Instead, how about locally assembled panels of citizen experts probe and review Baltimore City Police’s behavior. A cops’ actions found questionable could face a grand jury; and if decided a trial and the same penalties as any other citizen.

The only way we get pass the resurgence of this 1990’s riot fueling us against them, duel mob mentality is if both groups meet somewhere in the middle. We as citizens have to stop rushing to judgment as soon as the ill researched computer aged media drops a headline. You and I both know that most of the time, these so-called news outlets, get raw videos and clips and don’t have the context to decide what is happening. Yet, they still run the story under whatever trending headline they may fit. As for uncensored news sources like popular YouTuber’s; people, many of them are idiots desperate to make a quick buck and gather a crowd. They usually have an agenda or slant that they thump no matter what the truth of the case may be. Don’t be caught being a sheep for an under educated shepherd that in life you’d never follow to the corner store.  We have to learn to see and consider things for ourselves, even in cases considering the police. As for the police, it’s time for you to revamp your training, monitor actions better and all of that, but that’s as an entity, the individual officer’s change is much simpler. Officers, you’ve separated yourselves from the citizens and it makes no sense. You are a citizen too. Let the god complex go. Many of us understand that you are human just like the rest but your position requires an added level of control. Ask yourself, “If you lack self-control, why the hell should you control me? I thought lead by example was a kindergarten lesson that we all learned long ago.

Just my thoughts on it Knowledge,

Persecution

What do you think? Is this cold war between police and citizens beyond repair? How can we get the country back to a place of at least working together? Should we be funding research into robots or some sort of artificial intelligence to police us or are the days of iRobot not something to look forward too? Leave a comment below. Also check out the running list of Police brutality Cases listed below. If you run across another one, shoot it to me and ill add it to the list.

Knowledge Responds: Puff Puff Pass America’s Marijuana Conundrum

Knowledge Responds: Puff Puff Pass America’s Marijuana Conundrum

America’s current stance on marijuana is akin to a bad relationship that desperately needs the hackneyed help of Dr. Phil.  Marijuana is the significant other that has the collective mentality of the country all screwed up. We don’t know whether we want to fully legalize marijuana, continue with the decriminalization hypocrisy, use marijuana strictly for medical benefits, re-emphasize the illegality of marijuana according to federal standards, embrace the marijuana zeitgeist that permeates popular culture or spin uncontrollably in the center of the room, lost in the confusion of the aforementioned options.  We are caught in an unsustainable tug of war: 23 states and the District of Columbia have passed medical marijuana laws; several other states, including Maryland, have passed (or are in the process of passing) decriminalization laws; and two states: Colorado and Washington have completely legalized marijuana. Are we trying to get the milk without buying the cow here? I mean sure, it conflicts with the war on drugs ideology, and sure your family may not like it but hey isn’t about time that we stop treating our relationship like it’s just friends with benefits.  This current state of affairs cannot continue.

According to the federal government, marijuana is illegal and is a schedule 1 drug. Other schedule one drugs include heroin, LSD and ecstasy/ molly. By comparison, cocaine and methamphetamine are schedule 2 drugs and Vicodin and anabolic steroids are schedule 3 drugs. Schedule 4 drugs are drugs with a “low potential for abuse and low risk of dependence” and include Xanax, Soma and Ambien. Or as I like to call them, drugs which have a history of abuse and dependence but are cash cows of the pharmaceutical industry. But that’s another story. Ask Stone Cold Steve Austin about Somas and Ambien and how they are related to the death of some of his friends. No seriously, email his podcast at questions@steveaustinshow.com.  It’s possible to overdose on Ambien and Somas, but medical science has concluded that the amount of marijuana it would take to overdose is physically impossible to smoke. But Soma, an ingredient in date rape drugs, somehow ends up as a schedule 4 drug. So what does this all mean? There’s more politics than in the war on drugs than you could imagine.

Back to the grass: America doesn’t want to commit either way with marijuana so it plays with several different options at the same time. Decriminalization is seen as a happy medium by some, including the President of the University of Baltimore and former mayor Baltimore City, Kurt Schmoke. However, decriminalization contradicts federal law and at best, will have a marginal effect on the criminal justice system. Medical marijuana, the bane of the pharmaceutical industry, is gaining traction and acceptance throughout the country. But the overall effectiveness of medical marijuana is undermined by wild variations of laws governing its use and a widespread lack of general understanding of  medical marijuana. We, as a country, have yet to scratch the surface of the benefits of medical marijuana. Finally, the benefits of the legalization of marijuana have been touted by a significant part of the population. Some of those benefits include job creation, reduction in crime, tax revenue and the treatment of several medical conditions. Those would seem to be great reasons to jump feet first into the deep end with marijuana but America has cold feet and the schedule 1 drug classification is a great excuse to keep marijuana at a distance

Simply put, America doesn’t know whether to shit or wind its watch when it comes to marijuana. Anyone who has ever been in a committed relationship knows that commitments are hard. America has reached a breaking point with marijuana. America cannot continue with this convoluted state of affairs. There are currently 5 sets of laws governing marijuana: state criminal laws, state medical marijuana laws, state decriminalization, state legalization and federal criminal laws. That’s fucking insane. And, in the case of conflict, federal law  state law. If you really want to deport Justin Bieber, don’t create a stupid petition to send to the White House. Send your friend who’s a federal agent to catch him smoking marijuana. Even if Bieber is in California, Colorado or Maryland, he’ll be deported back to Canada faster than you can say “Bieleber.”

At this point, it’s really simple: in every relationship, there comes a point where you have to put up or shut up. America and marijuana need to have a heart to heart. America needs to  legalize marijuana or decide that marijuana is no good for this country. This clusterfuck  needs to end.  America: shit or get off of the pot.

Alabama Aids Factory Pastor Juan McFarland, Eyes Wide Shut

Alabama Aids Factory Pastor Juan McFarland, Eyes Wide Shut

Obviously, this pastor is carnally wrong. It equates to slow murder and there’s no arguing that point, treat him as such- a murderer. Intentionally infecting anyone with a terminal disease is murder. The sad thing, is that it is more commonplace than people will admit, but we’ll revisit that later. First, lets speak to the type of woman that would have unprotected sex in a church and then gossip about it, not telling entire story. For argument sake, this whole debacle boils down to a lack of personal responsibility but a good look has to be given to the atypical behavior of the congregation first.

#BlameTheOtherGuy

In Case you haven’t heard, Aids infected Pastor Juan Demetrius McFarland of Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church in Montgomery, Alabama has admitted to sleeping with an absurd amount of women in his congregation, and perhaps infecting them with the disease. According to MSNEWSNOW.com the drug using, supposedly reformed pastor had unprotected sex with upwards of 50 women in the congregation. Pastor McFarland claims his HIV infection took place sometime in 2003 and that he has lived with full blown aids since 2008.  Aside from actually screwing many of these women right in the church, the pastor is now refusing to vacate his position in the church. Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church,of Montgomery Alabama is forced with not only the embarrassment of the Pastor and congregation’s sex scandal but a ongoing legal battle to get the preacher out of their pulpit.

#AidsFactoryPastor

Women, people… fuck dogs listen, in 2014 the only people that mess around without protection are those that don’t give a fuck about the consequences and those too ignorant to be concerned with the consequences. If you’re one of the first grouping why the hell are you complaining? If you didn’t give a fuck then, please don’t give a fuck now.  If you are a part of the second group- those that live under a rock, I can only suggest that you have a conversation with your local middle schooler, I’m sure they can educate you…. And this has been your public service announcement for today.  There’s no room for debate here either, because it’s  insane to go raw with a fwb(friend with benefits) and then be surprised at the negative consequences. Plus there are too many billboards, tv commercials, etc.  The horse has been beat and  buried and it would be like me dancing on Mr. Ed’s grave.

#NoHorsesHere

As for the sheer amount of women infected, I don’t get it. People in the church “talk” and to think that the pastor and the deacon weren’t comparing notes about the Choir mistress; and that same Choir mistress didn’t tell the soloist that pastor poked her behind the organ pipes. Side note- someone should tell the choir mistress that’s not what they mean by Holy spirit. I just don’t understand how the black Christian rumor mill missed this secret about the pastor when it seldom misses anything.

#QuietChristiansNotLikely

I do feel that it speaks to people’s lop-sided process when spreading gossip and protecting secrets, however. Scared to shed light on self, scared to challenge those that we revere yet so ready to throw shade at those with which we have issues. Since when did the pastor become god on earth, I could have sworn he was human too, capable of pitfalls and stumbles like the rest of us. Where does this idea of blind faith come from? Oh wait I forgot: sheep, fleecing; I remember now.

#FleecingTheSheep

And I know someone will see this as a race heavy slight at black people but in truth, most people have this issue. We don’t see the possible good in placing our struggle in public. We are scared of the embarrassment and disapproval of our neighbors, family and onlookers. Truth is, they are talking shit about you anyway, that’s why you have the thought that they will add it to their list of issues with you, so why give a fuck. In publicizing or at least talking to someone about your issue you do yourself good in being able to vocalize the feelings that are inherent with going through stressful times; and someone that is going through a similar situation may hear your story and gleam strength from the knowledge that they are not alone. I’m not saying that each of these women should be public beacons for HIV awareness. Had they spoken to at least, one another about the issue beforehand then this pastor would probably have been put out to pasture long ago.

#NoBeaconNeeded

As for the pastor, he’s an asshole that will be dealt with by the law but the truth is he only did what these women are doing, kept his mouth shut or lied. Most people’s issue with this situation is people not speaking the truth. Now we don’t know how many of these women specifically asked him the question and how many he only lied to by omission, but either way the truth wasn’t exposed, true. Well many of these women were married.  Also, how many ran down their complete sexual history before they got it in behind the baptismal pool? How many told their girlfriend next to them, hey don’t sleep with Pastor McFarland? I also wonder if any of the women intentionally set other church members up to be infected. How many are going to run it down before they have sex with their next partner? Especially the ones that have yet to come forward in light of the public scandal, will they be honest even if they are not asked?

#FullDisclosure

If they don’t have to tell why should he. If we remove the malicious intent that he went at these women with then we get to the real issue of this incident, is someone with HIV obligated or should they even be compelled to tell you the truth on asking. Most claim that he had the responsibility of revealing his status, but in truth isn’t his responsibility in securing his own person; for lack of better wording, his pursuit of life liberty and living. If he had come forward would the church have dismissed him? Would he have been ostracized from the super judgmental world of the southern Baptist?  Well  think about your job, your name, your life and then tell me, you had an incurable disease that carries the stigma of  HIV, would you be so forthcoming? We’d all like to think we’d be a beacon of truth but fact of the matter is, in crisis we don’t know what we’d do.

#WhatWouldYouDo

Two of the stages of crisis that come to mind that would worry me specifically, shame and anger. I can only imagine the shame experienced and I’m sure its crippling. We all have that family member which we never want to give any ammo, well HIV is ammo for more than just your nosey aunt. Then in the anger phase I can picture some hot head thinking, “Why should I suffer alone, I’m gonna give this to anybody that is willing to catch it”; not truly malicious but being opportunistic. Disgustingly true, but I’m sure some psychology professor could turn it into a interesting paper.

#CrisisStages

Let’s be honest here this is just a case of personal responsibility gone out to lunch. Even with the mess that is wrapped up in this scandal:the aids factory pastor, the whores in church, the constantly whispering congregation, the law suit and all at a black christian church in the south( somebody call Tyler Perry); if these women had made him wrap it up, there would be no scandal.

#Personal Responsibility

What do you think? Is someone obligated to reveal their HIV status or should we all be responsible for our own safety regardless? Should the Pastor be prosecuted? Should the infected members’ identities be revealed? What are your thoughts on this whole situation leave me a comment.

Maryland’s Decriminalization of Marijuana, Close but no Cigar

Use the result to fix the problem

Use the result to fix the problem

Maryland’s Marijuana decriminalization(bill includes Washington D.C.) should appease the likes of Whoopi Goldberg and Jesse Jackson (yes he’s a cannabis supporter, to see other famous supporters check the NORML.org webpage). Which also means that Charlo Greene ‘s efforts are paying off outside of Alaska’s Cannabis Club right? Well not really, in the state of Maryland the use of marijuana is still illegal. In fact the new law is nothing more than a term switch, an attempt at tracking and targeting smokers and an overall bad sidestep that’s going to cause huge headaches for local government and law enforcement workers in the long run. Decriminalization is nothing more than avoidance of the real issue, marijuana’s legalization.

#LegalizenotDecriminalize

The law took effect on October 1, 2014 and it rolls possession of marijuana down to a ticket-able offense. Under the new law marijuana users will be ticketed and civil fines imposed for the first three possessions. Of course each ticket will be higher than the last. The full details of the bill are discussed at the Maryland Policy Project. 18 other states have similar bills on the books. Without going into the federal boneheads, their archaic class system in ranking drugs or their absurd notion that smoking marijuana isn’t comparable to drinking alcohol, let’s look solely at the local implications of Maryland’s new bill.

#FederalBoneheads #LocalLunacy

Decriminalization is basically acknowledging defeat of an issue that is still technically wrong. The drug’s downgrading to a ticketed offense makes it comparable to speeding. Everyone does it but don’t get caught echoes in the back of my mind. One question though, isn’t it still as dangerous as it was on Sept 30th? It’s still a schedule 1 drug so I guess heroin and LSD will be ticket-able offenses next and cocaine legalized. Is this the local government saying, “Hey we can’t control it so we may as well profit from it by writing tickets?”  Well if it is, I guess heroin and coke will definitely be legalized shortly. All of the police activity in the city this weekend suggests that this is already the case; however a closer look at the implications of the bill reveals the state’s ulterior motives.

#SmokebutStayWoke

In case you didn’t know Maryland has been in the top 5 for marijuana arrests since 2007; some 22,043 arrests for marijuana a year. Furthermore, convictions count for about 28.3%(2003) of all drug convictions, and we know how important conviction numbers are to “the man”. Local government isn’t throwing away a “cash cow,” they are dressing it and selling it as the world’s prettiest bull. The new law allows ticketing for the first few offenses; but what then? Yep,you guessed it. The state then has the option of imposing jail time. Guess what those other tickets then become, evidence of a steady problem. Now I’m no lawyer, but sounds like the state is setting someone up for an easier fall.

#BmoreCareful

To the boyz in blue don’t let the local government hang you out to dry like this. This ticketing process is going to mean more civil rights issues and more undue scrutiny by other entities. The whole ticketing process will mean more contact with the public that doesn’t result in an arrest. Not saying that successful arrests can’t go bad but how many “in the moment” crusaders are going to claim that they are targets or subject to profiling after the second ticket? Not to mention the hassle of going to court for the ticket, because I’m sure there will be a plethora of court cases that result from them. After all local law enforcement has enough issues to worry about with the federal government’s probe into the Baltimore city police department pending.

#BmoreBlue

Martin, it’s time to get real. Stop bending halfway on issues and hoping to keep constituents, no one is fooled. It’s obvious that the federal government’s take on things is wrong. You’ve already enacted a bill that amounts the drug use to speeding. Why not just legalize it, setup state-run dispensaries comparable to state-run liquor stores? Allot part of the sales to education and children’s welfare, part to drug awareness and treatment programs and hell, stick the rest in your pocket. Even if there’s not enough to fix the states deficit, at least it’s a fresh take on the obviously lost war on drugs. Seriously Governor O’Malley,  let’s just avoid this headache before it starts.

#TylenoltheNightBefore #ResultsfixtheProblem

What do you think? Is the decriminalization bill the right way to go or is it just another ploy to get arrests numbers up, making local law enforcement look better? Do you think that it will backfire and make them look worse than they do now? Do you think that Marijuana should be legalized? Is the state wasting another opportunity to make some desperately needed cash? Leave a comment below.

Knowledge responds to Ray Rice and the Black Queen

Ray Rice: everybody’s favorite wife beater. Just like Riley Cooper is everyone’s favorite racist. Oh, you forgot about Riley Cooper and his little tirade? No matter. The name Ray Rice is synonymous with dirt for the next several months. Just like Leonard Little (vehicular manslaughter and DUI) was synonymous with scumbag a few years back. Don’t remember him either? It’s inconsequential to this conversation.

See the Ray Rice outrage has nothing to do with do with domestic violence. Nor does it have to do with the poor cover up attempt by the NFL and Ravens Organization. And crime and punishment is rarely mentioned in the conversation so you can definitely rule that out. Ray Rice hit (no pun intended) on a little spoken on truth in the ethos of America: people despise those who interfere with the pure enjoyment of our sports. It’s the reason why umpires/ referees are unpopular. It’s why “bad” announcers are excoriated over the internet. And it’s why Jimmy Kimmel’s stunt to have people unplug the TV during the Super Bowl awhile back was almost universally met with violence and instant anger. Ray Rice, Greg Hardy (domestic violence conviction) and Adrian Peterson (child abuse allegations) made people look at football players negatively during a 3 week stretch that never seemed to end. And that negative image was all you could discuss. Not the game. Not the final score. Not the players. And it rubbed an overwhelming majority of sports fans and sports media the wrong way. You don’t mess with sports in this country. It’s why the same men who wish they could slap the taste out of their fat, annoying wives were all of a sudden dismayed with Ray Rice. It wasn’t because what he did was wrong. It was. It wasn’t because the video was despicable. It was. And it wasn’t because it was a cowardly act. It was. But it was because the random NFC West divisional showdown 3000 miles away from Baltimore and Atlantic City was less enjoyable to watch because football players became synonymous with crushing left hooks in an elevator and that didn’t sit well with sports fans.

What makes me so sure of this stance? How little outrage there is against the State of New Jersey for letting Ray off with a light slap on the wrist. If that was another man who Rice hit, he would’ve received a harsher punishment. Same thing if Janay was hit by another female. But every New Jersey lawyer who defends a domestic violence perpetrator will now argue for the Ray Rice penalty; and such a light penalty is not in the best interest of the domestic violence advocates who the NFL hired in light of the Rice fallout. But yet, these women never mention this fact on ESPN. It’s all about the NFL: the multi-billion dollar corporation who has no effect on the day to day quality and quantity of life of most Americans. Professional football is nothing more than an entertainment service which has permeated almost all aspects of daily life. This fact makes the NFL seem more important than it really is. Rice doesn’t pay your rent. Roger Goddell doesn’t raise your kids. The NFL is just there to televise a kid’s game and advertise various products. Unfortunately for you, the constant conversation about domestic violence and child abuse has distracted from the conversation about whether Tom Brady is done. Crime and punishment are massive issues in this country, but people are more upset they wasted fantasy football draft picks on Rice and Peterson. You don’t want to deal with violence against women. You want the game to kick off and your team to score.

Enjoyment of sports is what ultimately matters. It’s the constant undercurrent of every conversation about the Ray Rice incident. It’s why ESPN talking heads would in one breath decry the negative attention Rice placed on the sport, and in the next sentence, decree that they were going to “get back to the game, because nothing is bigger than the game.” Domestic violence, crime and punishment, second chances, conspiracies, cover ups and the happiness of the now married couple mean nothing. And even though these topics affect your everyday lives more than the NFL, you only care about the entertainment football provides. Rae Curruth, I mean Ray Rice be damned. Come Sunday, the figurative question will be asked: “Are you not entertained?!?!” And you are hoping and praying that the answer will be yes.

Ray Rice and the Black Queen

Ray Rice and the Black Queen

With all of the Ray Rice Bs that has been going on in the media, I’ll forgive you if you don’t see the connection to the Black Queen myth. Not so much the incident itself, but the reaction was definitely another example of feminism gone awry. Somewhere between the left hook heard ‘round the world and the big bad domestic violence ridden NFL, it seems like the black queen thumpers and feminist nut cases have taken control of everyone’s focus while ensuring the feminism rallying cry is buried just beneath the surface. #FeminismGoneAwry

Raised by a single black woman, I got the black queen speech from an early age: “Treat all black women like they are queens.” It seems feminist have adopted a similar idea: all women are queens who deserve deferential treatment.  I could easily run down a list of women that I’ve met who are unworthy of being treated like queens but let’s not. Instead, let’s look at what a “queen” really is. You’re born into the role of a figurehead that is more or less; a piece of arm candy for the king. You have no real authority, just the power to intimidate and bully those under your rule. In 2014, how many constituents could you really have? But then it’s the treatment like a queen that is sought. Well queens were only served by their servants. So who then are your servants my queens? Men? But isn’t the goal of feminism equal treatment? After seeing how my boy Ray fared, I guess not. #RealFeminism

The whole punishment, prosecution and then re-punishment of Ray Rice has been an appalling situation from the start. After endless coverage, it won’t be over to me until he’s back in purple and black where he belongs. I’ll be the first to admit, he didn’t have to wall-face Janay like that. The hit was no laughing matter by any means. What about self-defense? She was obviously the aggressor and though she would be no match for him, to get juvenile “she started it!” Even that is kinda irrelevant in the long run, in the State of New Jersey, self-defense is permitted, though even that defense takes sex into account. So why did the state’s attorney drop charges against Janay Rice but pursue Ray? No it wasn’t money. It was pressure from feminist organizations, the same reason that Ray eventually lost his contract. This is the problem with the queen mentality that has seemingly taken over. Anytime a conflict arises that crosses the sex line, the man is automatically more at fault than the women. Anyone with common sense would agree that if one got punished so should the other. As for the NFL and Steve Bisciotti-  well that was just one giant fumble fest. And yet, Ravens #27 being fired is equally as ridiculous. How does it make sense for the NFL to adopt new policies after the incident happens but then impose stricter penalties when the recording of the incident goes public? Again this was only done at the behest of feminist organizations. You’d think that the same organizations would have protested for her to be punished as well. I mean what better deterrent against domestic violence than judicial punishment right? But it doesn’t work that way for women. Just ask Hope Solo. I could go on because the incident was full of questionable decisions but like most in Baltimore, I just want to put the incident to bed; oh and get him back in Purple and Black- #NoRayNoRavens

To those in Baltimore that may disagree: In Baltimore, we claim our birds as family, do we not; so when do we turn our back on our family? If he shared blood with each of us, would we as a city have acted as we did. The jersey turn in contests, the constant bashing and lets not forget the fanatical fair weather fan public bully session that Fox 45’s facebook page turned into. The way so many here turned their backs on him was the real travesty. Turns out my city is full of hordes of perfect people, so maybe I’m the illogical one wanting fair treatment for all and forgiveness where it’s due. #YourNotJesus

To my queens with little kings something to think about: Sooner or later that king is going to leave you to find his own queen. If he should choose one lesser than yourself, should he treat her like a queen? Should he be a doormat for her? Should he live in a society where she can physically assault him? Not allowed to defend himself in the moment, should he lay down his life? Should you continue to cultivate, bully and aggravate a society wherein your little king can only hope to grow up to serve another queen? Let’s get that pendulum squared in the center, stop the swinging and move toward equality for all. #EqualityForAll

What do you think? Was Ray mistreated in this situation? Has the black queen mindset damaged the relationship between black men and black women? Is the rest oh womankind also adopted a similar self conception- women should be praised as royalty? Is this sort of mentality undermining feminist goals? Should there be laws on the books that take sex into consideration? Is there ever a reason for a man to hit a woman? Is it acceptable for women to hit men? Let me know what you think?
